MY JOURNEY

MY JOURNEY
My journey to here and now. My father had the uncanny ability to make anything. He didn’t teach me about tools or methods of construction, but I watched and remembered. He had an old Shopsmith and was able to mostly fix things. He didn’t create art, he fixed things. He was very creative in his work life but not a home. I started working for the family business just after my eleventh birthday and didn’t stop working until my retirement at 74. I always like working in wood and I also managed the family sheet metal business for a time. My father ultimately changed careers and purchased a law enforcement leather business where I learned to tool and sew gun holsters that we sold to police departments. A couple of years ago I took up woodworking as a hobby, then woodturning. I didn’t feel; safe enough with the knowledge I had so I enrolled in a woodturning class at Craft Supply in Provo, UT. I have produced 100’s of wooden and Acrylic writing pens, Wine Stoppers and have now branch out in the mini jewel cases. I have a small shop so I have decided to produce small items. I gave away most things I made to friends and family, but I now have to sell what I make to continue my hobby.
